#使用苛鹼的安全小提醒

#使用苛鹼一般而言是安全的，但要記住幾樣事情。你需要一些安全配備。手套能遮住前臂的，防濺護目鏡，以及當熱水倒入苛鹼的呼吸器(一般我們就用口罩)。永遠要穿上這些防護配備很重要。

有一次，我蹲著在看一個清澈的水槽裏頭有苛鹼，在視線的高度。我沒有戴安全配備，因為我沒打算要做任何事只是想看，蓋子沒有蓋好，所以我要調整，但是蓋子掉進去，苛鹼的有熱度的水回濺到我臉上。我眼睛是張的，很糟。好在我快速用大量水沖洗沒有傷害到，但很痛。

#另一個重點是奈米粒子的安全性。因為奈米粒子是單原子，很容易滲透到身體。少量是無害，但持續暴露在奈米顆粒下可能有危險。應該避免接觸奈米塗層，但真正的問題是，如果你要重新利用奈米塗層過的，要磨砂等等，接觸奈米顆粒子不好，使用電動磨砂機也會非常危險，因為可能噴灑在你身上。如果你必須磨砂並重新塗層，以手工完成並將奈米顆粒刷掉，總是在戶外做。

多年來在做這些東西的過程，受了一點傷，以及幾次幸免於難有點可怖。我知道有些人沒那麼幸運，造成無可挽回的傷害。看似平常簡單的工作可能導致嚴重傷害，所以我請求大家總是保持警醒。很多問題來自看似無害的抄捷徑。#請大家注意安全！

Caustic Safety Tips

Working with caustic is generally safe, but there are a few things to keep in mind. There is some safety gear you'll want. Gloves that cover your forearms, splash guard safety glasses, and a respirator when pouring hot water into caustic. It's important to always wear them. One time I was crouched down looking into a clear tub of strong caustic water at eye level. I didn't have my safety gear on because I wasn't planning on doing anything other than looking. I noticed the lid wasn't on correctly so I adjusted it but the lid fell in and caused a tidal wave of hot caustic water to splash in my face. My eyes were open, it was just about the worst you could get. But I was able to rinse my eyes and face quickly so there was no damage. I was lucky. It was very painful though.

Another important point is nanoparticle safety. Because nanoparticles are individual atoms they can easily pass in and through the body. Small amounts are harmless but continued exposure can be dangerous. You should avoid touching nanocoating, but the real problem is if you need to sand or grind the copper plates before recoating them. Even touching nanoparticles isn't good so using a power grinder can be very dangerous because they will be sprayed on you. If you must sand and recoat, do it by hand and brush the nanoparticles away from you and always do it outside.

Over the years building other things, I've had some injuries and close calls that are very scary. I know of people who weren't so lucky and have life changing, heartbreaking injuries. Even seemingly simple tasks can lead to serious injury so I beg everyone to be careful and aware at all times. A lot of problems come from taking shortcuts that seem harmless. Be safe everyone!
